Our personalized approach.
In 1988, a group of radiologists opened an outpatient radiology center dedicated to providing a more relaxed atmosphere than that found in most hospitals. In this new environment, waiting times were reduced and the staff was encouraged and trained to spend time with patients, offering more personalized care.
We started out as Harrisburg Avenue Radiology Associates, HARA offering CT (single-slice “cat” scan), DEXA scans, ultrasound mammography and a diagnostic radiogolgy room that offered fluoroscopy services.
We joined forces in 1998 with St. Joseph’s Hospital and relocated our officed to 924 Red Rose Court. We also adopted a new name: The Imaging Center of Lancaster, and began offering MRI services early in 1999.
Incredibly, many of the original employees have been with the practice since it opened in 1988.
Most recently the Imaging Center of Lancaster opened a new women’s center, called Lancaster Breast Imaging, located less than a mile from the main office. Services include digital mammography, DEXA scans and breast ultrasound. Imaging services are located within the Breast Health Center which also houses Dr. Ann-Marie Hugh, Lancaster’s newest and only fellowship-trained women’s breast surgeon.
Having a breast surgeon on site is invaluable to patients contemplating surgery. Biopsy procedures are coordinated with Dr. Hugh’s practice and patients come to one site for testing as well as their doctor’s appointment. From our beginning to our recent expansion, everything we do supports our goal of providing Lancaster residents with the personalized care they deserve. |
